The Beatles frequently performed in Manchester, with numerous tour dates in the city throughout the 60s.
They performed at the Odeon Theatre on Oxford Street on May 30th 1963, this was their only performance at this particular venue.
The set list for this gig included Love Me Do, Please Please Me, I Saw Her Standing There and Twist and Shout.

On 20th November of 1963, The Beatles performed at the ABC Cinema in Ardwick (which later became the Manchester Apollo). Performances from this gig along with backstage footage and crowd scenes were filmed for a cinema feature which was broadcast the following month. Granada TV also filmed backstage as well as interviewing The Beatles about their forthcoming tour.

On Monday 1st November 1965, filming took place at Granada TV Studios for a special programme entitled ‘The Music Of Lennon and McCartney’. Many stars appeared on the show, including Cilla Black, Lulu, Esther Phillips and Henry Mancini.

In December of 1965, The Beatles were once again back in Manchester performing at the ABC Cinema. They are wearing masks in mockery of the smog in the city.
