November 15th 1987:
Manchester United striker Brian McClair bursts through the Liverpool defence during the First Division clash between the two clubs at Old Trafford.
The match ended in a 1-1 draw with United’s goal coming from Norman Whiteside in the 50th minute. The Red Devils went on to finish second in the league, nine points behind champions Liverpool.
A draw was a good result for United as Liverpool lost only twice all season. A memorable fight back at Anfield in April saw the Red Devils pull off a 3-3 draw after being 3-1 down at half time. It denied Liverpool two points and delayed their title celebrations.
McClair was United’s top scorer for the season with 31 goals in all competitions.

A newspaper feature on luxury living in the late 1960s shows ‘his and her’ cars on the driveway of a Manchester home.
For him it’s a Ford Cortina – the UK’s best-selling car in the 1970s – while for her it’s a sporty Triumph Spitfire convertible. The Triumph Spitfire was in production from 1962 to 1980 after being unveiled at the London Motor Show.
Baby seems quite happy with a traditional pushchair!

Anti-apartheid protesters deliver their message outside the offices of South Africa Airways in Manchester.
A group of about 30 blocked the ground-floor entrance in a peaceful sit-down protest, some with makeshift messages and placards.
Police arrived but said no action would be taken as long as the protesters did not block the pavement along Peter Street.
