November 20, 1982:

Goalkeeper Joe Corrigan had more than the opposition forwards to contend with when Manchester City took on Birmingham City at Maine Road.
A large black dog held up play in the First Division match as it evaded repeated attempts by players and officials to catch it.
At least it proved a distraction from the 0-0 draw ground out between the two teams!
It was not a vintage season for City. They were relegated after finishing 20th with 47 points.

November 20, 1978:

Seconds out! Two of football’s most combative managers come together at a boxing evening in a Manchester nightclub.
Standing between them is former Manchester United and England midfielder Bobby Charlton.
Clough was the high-flying manager of league champions Nottingham Forest at the time, while Docherty had left Old Trafford to take charge at Derby County.
The evening was well mannered – and the only sparring taking place between the two managerial legends was verbal!

November 16, 1966:

Coronation Street writers Harry Driver and Vince Powell look aghast as Annie Walker, played by Doris Speed, rips up their script at Granada Studios.
Fortunately it was all part of a publicity stunt. Driver and Powell were the long-running soap’s first story-liners and wrote many classic episodes together.
Manchester actress Speed played Rovers Return landlady Annie Walker from 1960 to 1983, becoming nothing less than a national institution in the role. She was awarded the MBE in 1977.
