Forward McClair signed from Celtic for a transfer fee of £850,000. In his first season for United he scored 24 league goals, becoming the first player to score more than 20 league goals in a season since George Best in 1967-68.
McClair made 355 senior appearances for the Red Devils scoring 88 goals. He moved to Motherwell in 1998.
July 6: It’s all smiles as actor Bill Tarmey (Jack Duckworth) is welcomed back to Granada TV’s Coronation Street by his screen wife Liz Dawn (Vera Duckworth).
