Write for Us

Our Guidelines
We encourage the submission of articles between 500 and 2,500 words in length. Your article should fit well within one of our key category areas: National History, Womens History, Transport History, Local History or Explore History – We also write within Sporting History.
We do not expect articles to adhere to a strict academic style – though you may opt to write in this style if you wish. We prefer pieces that are informal and accessible in tone and that directly engage the reader with the key issues at hand from the outset. Articles should be jargon-free and clearly explain concepts and historical contexts to a non-expert audience. Our audience is typically 25 to 65, looking for a nostalgia hit from their younger-days, a trip down memory lane and often a dig into a historical rabbit hole too.
We encourage hyperlinks to relevant blogs, websites and articles or to resources that explain more specialised concepts. We do not use footnotes (just links in articles).
Articles should be submitted with at least one relevant image, the more the better. Please ensure that images are public domain, belong to the author or that permission has been granted for their use (include this within your submission). You should also supply a short author bio and author photograph (or other preferred image), as well as any links to personal or professional webpages and social media profiles.
Articles may be edited upon submission before posting.
To submit an article simply complete the form below. (if you have any issues please complete the form and let us know, we will reply with an alternative method).
