November 3rd 1987:
Two great football characters, Rodney Marsh and George Best, clown around for the cameras during a photo-call for their travelling roadshow.
A skilled forward, Marsh played for Manchester City from 1972 to 1976, making 118 league appearances and scoring 36 goals. He also played for Fulham, Queens Park Rangers and Tampa Bay Rowdies.
Manchester United legend George Best made 361 league appearances on the wing for the Red Devils from 1963 to 1974, scoring no less than 137 goals.
The two actually played together for a season at Fulham in 1976-77.
November 13th 1979:
It was all smiles on Coronation Street for the wedding of Gail Potter, played by Helen Worth, and Brian Tilsley (Christopher Quinten).
But the course of true love failed to run smoothly as the two divorced in 1987. In true soap fashion, though, the pair remarried in February 1988, only to divorce again a year later.
This time the relationship ended in tragedy as Quinten’s character was killed off in a dramatic stabbing outside a nightclub. Gail went on to marry four more times and is still in the soap after making her debut 46 years ago.
November 3rd 1951:
Manchester City captain Don Revie wins a header against Fulham during a Division One match at Craven Cottage.
The result was a 2-1 win for the Blues with goals from Ivor Broadis and Revie himself.
Future Leeds United and England manager Revie played 148 league matches for City from 1951 to 1956, scoring 35 goals as a deep-lying centre forward.
